Hardee's fast food chain is not known for a focus on healthy food until now. Famous for its thick hamburgers, Hardee's recently shocked the industry when it rolled out a turkey burger.
This move came on the heels of McDonald's introduction of fruit and maple oatmeal, not to mention Burger King's apple fries from a couple of years ago. The fast food industry appears to be taking all the criticism that it is contributing to America's obesity problem to heart. Maybe. The fact is that despite being marketed as a healthier alternative, Hardee's charbroiled turkey burgers still tip the scales at between 460 to 480 calories each. This is better than the chain's thickburgers, which range from 620 to 1,320 calories, but still not exactly light fare. And McDonald's oatmeal has been highly criticized for having more sugar than a Snickers bar and only 10 calories less than one of their cheeseburgers.
